Para Games Day 2011

Olympic fever took over the Xcel leisure centre in Walton Upon Thames on Tuesday 10th of May as over 100 young people from Surrey schools participated in an action packed day of activities including; Athletics, football, badminton, cricket and golf.

The first ever Surrey Para Games day provided an opportunity for disabled children in the local area to experience there very own Paralympic style games, The participants aged between 11 and 19 competed in a series of events for their chance to secure a place in the medal positions and follow in the footsteps of there sporting heroes.

The day was made more memorable for the young people by team GB’s very own Paralympic bronze medallist Vicki Hansford who made a special appearance and not only helped to encourage the children but also inspired them to chase there sporting dreams.
