Chess is a new addition to the programme where over 600 children from 6 - 16 years old took part in the Surrey MegaFinals across the bank holiday week.
Dodgeball, one of our new sports which schools registered for, has also taken place and been noted to possibly be one our most exciting competitions to date.

17 April

We are almost at the half way point of the 2012 P&G Surrey School Games with 24 events already taken place and almost 3,000 young people competing. This already exceeds the number of young people that took part in the Games last year, 2,500 across 30 events, demonstrating the way our School Games has grown. There are still 30 more events to take place over the next 3 months that we anticipate a further 3,000 young people will compete in.

There are less than 2 weeks to enter our Surrrey Schools Have Talent! competition and Olympic inspired art competitions with their closing dates fast approaching on the 30 April. We have seen a large number of brilliant entries from young people in primary and secondary schools for all competitions and are looking forward to announcing the winners in the coming weeks. Take a look at our Surrey Schools Have Talent! and art competition pages to find out how you can get involved.

The Year 7 Futsal competition was an exciting spectacle with the final match between Howard of Effingham and Hampton resulting in penalties. The match ended in a Hampton victory but Howard should be proud of their performance, particularly Conor Gallagher who scored a number of goals.

Surrey goes global

The 2012 Olympics may be over in August but we intend to make sure the legacy lives on forever.

Plans are currently underway to set up a Surrey worldwide programme that will see local school children given the opportunity to share there experiences of the London 2012 Games and everyday life with young people from Surrey Jamaica, Surrey Canada and Surrey South Australia.

The project will include a website to be regulary updated with sporting stories from Surrey, England and Surrey worldwide as well as having a blog to enable students from across the world to keep in touch and make life long friends.

The Surrey worldwide web pages will be coming soon.
