Take Part. Take Pride

The P&G Surrey School Games is part of a wider structure of school sport with schools and individuals qualifying to reach the Games through local leagues and competitions.

In addition to this however, there is an opportunity for all schools and individuals to enter into our arts competitions and there is a limited number of places now available for schools to enter into the archery, dodgeball and mountain biking competitions with free resources and training also provided.

About the School Games

The School Games is a new government initiative giving all young people more opportunities to take part in competitive school sport. Using the power of the London 2012 Games, this is a great time to encourage young people to compete in a wide range of sporting and cultural activities. The School Games is split into four distinct but integrated levels.

Level 1

This is the intra-school competition between form groups or house teams, for example where existing events are built upon.

Level 2

Young people in years 3-13 are selected to represent their schools at local inter-school competition, many of which will be in leagues.

Level 3

This is the P&G Surrey School Games where county finals are hosted for each of the sports competed in at Level 2. Those who have been successful at Level 2, qualify to compete at Level 3. The P&G Surrey School Games will also incorporate cultural competitions in the areas of music, literature and dance with an Olympic or sporting theme. A number of sport exhibition events open for schools to register for will be held as part of the P&G Surrey School Games programme including dodgeball, motorsport and mountain biking.

Level 4

This is a national multi-sport event, where the countries most talented young athletes will compete if selected by national governing bodies.
