Film Nation: Shorts

If you are a young film maker looking to give the likes of Spielberg, Scorsese or Tarantino a run for their money, why not upload your films to Film Nation?

As part of the 2012 Cultural Olympiad, Film Nation invites young people aged between 14-25 to showcase their creativity and entertain movie lovers in the run up to the 2012 Games. See some of the entries from filmmakers already registered on Film Nation.

Learn from the experts at Film Nation's Film School

Renowned actors and film makers are on hand to provide expert advice and inspiration including Nick Frost (Spaced, Shaun of the Dead), Matt Lucas and David Walliams (Little Britain) and Sir Ian McKellen (Lord of the Rings, X-Men).

These tips from will cover everything from what it takes to make a good director, how to come up with your characters, all the way though to how to choose a camera and get the best from it.

Competitions

Young film makers are encouraged to create short three minute films and enter competitions to win monthly prizes. When one competition closes, there will be other competitions to enter in the run up to the Olympic and Paralympic Games.

These competitions are set into categories based on the values of the London 2012 Games:

Find out how to enter these competitions and maybe see your creativity on the big screen. Winning short films will also be considered for the Film Nation Awards.

Events and Workshops

In the lead up to the Games, Film Nation will be visiting locations across the UK, including Surrey, to provide workshops and master classes from industry experts on how you can make the best of your creative abilities.
