UCL student from Guildford wins Film Nation: Shorts ‘Film of the Month’
Will Freeman from Guildford has won the Film Nation: Shorts Film of the Month award for September 2010. As part of the London 2012 Cultural Olympiad, Film Nation: Shorts offers young film makers to showcase their film making skills and enter monthly competitions. Will Freeman's film Dream up Reality will now be long listed to have the opportunity to be screened at the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

Volunteering workshop bus comes to Surrey
Vinpsired's bigvbus will be making two stops in Surrey this autumn, giving young people the opportunity to try some hands on and fun volunteering experiences. There will be competitions, guest speakers and the opportunity to find out about national volunteering opportunities.

Free workshop on attracting volunteers
Volunteering will be at the centre of the smooth running of the 2012 Olympic Games. An expected half a million potential Games volunteers will look into applying when recruitment opens in September. Volunteering England along side with Voluntary Action Maidstone will be hosting a free workshop on how your business can maximise on this interest in volunteering and create new opportunities.

World Blind Football Championships
Football comes to Hereford as the World Blind Football Championships are hosted in England this summer. A unique style of play and crowd etiquette can be witnessed as the teams compete for victory. It is hoped that many of the teams competing will take advantage of Surrey's pre-games training camp facilities and services ahead of the 2012 games.

Surrey Paralympian comes out of retirement after illness
Paralympic gold medallist returns to team GB after retiring due to heart problems. Helene Raynsford who won gold at the Beijing Paralympics and the 2006 World Rowing Championships is now determined to add to her tally of success at the up and coming World Rowing Championships in New Zealand.

Film Nation: Shorts - 'Truce' Competition
In collaboration with Peace One Day founder Jeremy Gilley and ambassador Jude Law, Film Nation invites young people to get creative with their film making skills and create short films inspired by 'Truce'. Winning films will be screened a various events including the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

Team GB athletes to benefit from Woking based technology company
As British Olympians and Paralympians train to win on home soil, Woking based company Mclaren Applied Technologies are strengthening the prospect of potential success by providing the athletes with state of the art sports technologies. Team GB are set to benefit from these facilities and potentially generate an impressive medal tally in 2012.

Surrey teenagers compete in the Singapore Youth Olympics

Although these Surrey Athletes missed out on medals, their displays of achieving near-success in Singapore will potentially help them with ambitions to represent Great Britain at the London 2012 Games.
