Gold for Surrey Canoeist Rachel Cawthorne
Rachel Cawthorne has added to her impressive collection of medals with her winning one bronze and two gold medals at the Kayak World Cup in Duisburg. Adding to Surrey’s rich history of canoeing success, Rachel now sets her sights on achieving success on home soil at the London 2012 Games.

Commonwealth Games boxer Darren Langley made a welcome visit to Woking High School to promote Lloyds TSB National Sports Week.

The search for 2012 volunteers begins
The London 2012 Organising Committee has announced it's Olympic and Paralympic volunteering programme, citing volunteers as "Games Makers - crucial to the success of the Games". The project is expected to be the largest volunteering recruitment campaign in post Second World War Britain.

Personal Best students apply volunteering skills at the Surrey Youth Games.
Students from the Personal Best volunteering programme recently put their newly gained skills into practice and assisted with the successful running of the Surrey Youth Games. With the responsiblity of assisting over 2,500 young competitors, the volunteers have now gained experience that can be transferred into their potential applications to become volunteers at the London 2012 games.

Disabled youngsters given the chance to shine
Over 80 young people took part in a recent assessment day involving various sporting events for the Playground to Podium scheme.  The youngsters had fun taking part in Football, Athletics, Swimming and Wheelchair Basketball, before receiving a welcome visit from world champion rower and Paralympic bronze medallist Vicki Hansford.
