Antigua and Barbuda choose Surrey for 2012 preparation
Antigua and Barbuda's Olympic teams have signed an agreement to train and prepare for the 2012 Games in Surrey. The signing between Surrey and the Antigua and Barbuda National Olympic Committee took place at the Surrey Sports Park in Guildford last week, witnessed by cricket legends Sir Vivian Richards and Alec Stewart and 100m Olympic Champion Allan Wells. The team are thrilled to be coming to Surrey and will be training between the Guildford Spectrum and the Surrey Sports Park.
Last minute goal for Surbiton HC forward takes England to men’s hockey semi finals
Last minute wonder goal from James Tindall secures England’s place in the semi finals at the 2010 Commonwealth Games in Delhi. As well as scoring the winning goal in the 2-1 victory over opponents South Africa, the Surbiton HC forward completes his 50th international goal record.
Double silver for Surrey synchronised swimmer
Celebrations were in order in early October as Camberley resident Jenna Randall achieved Silver medal success at the 2010 Commonwealth Games in Delhi. This was achieved in both the solo and duet women’s free Synchronised Swimming routines. After proving her capabilities in Delhi, Jenna will now be a key athlete to watch at the 2012 Games.
Surbiton Hockey forward becomes hat-trick hero at the 2010 Common wealth Games
Surbiton HC forward adds to his tally of international goals and contributes to England’s impressive 5-3 win over New Zealand at the 2010 Commonwealth Games. This hat-trick excites fans as the European Champions add to their success streak in Delhi.
Silver for Surrey gymnast at the 2010 Commonwealth Games
Surrey Gymnast Rebecca Wing felt mixed emotions as she watched fellow teammates secure the silver medal behind Australia. Due to having a last minute fever, Rebecca still showed her team spirit and spurred on her team as a reserve to help keep Canadian rivals in the bronze medal position. Rebecca Wing is one of many Surrey Athletes representing England at the 2010 Common Wealth Games in Delhi.
Free song & dance taster day
The public is invited to show their musical talents at a free song & dance taster day at the Runneymede Centre in Addlestone this October. Taking place on the 28 October 2010, a variety of song and dance styles will be open for you to watch and to have a go at with the many workshops running throughout the day.
