What to expect in 2011
With just one year to go until 2012, the excitement for the Olympic and Paralympic Games on home soil is growing. Many exciting things are set to happen in Surrey within the next 12 months, from Pre-Games training camps to an art exhibition inspired by the Paralympic Games. Find out more about the various events already planned in your area in 2011.

From the creativity of the 2012 Cultural Olympiad, to the performances of Surrey athletes, you can now keep up to date with all 2012 related news and events on facebook. The facebook page will be regularly updated with photo albums and videos of Games related events and activities within the county. Add Surrey 2012 to your facebook ‘likes’ and keep up-to-date with what is happening in Surrey and how you can be part of it.
Intern reports on her time with the 2012 team
Since graduating from the University of Kingston with a first class degree in Marketing Management, Natalie Welsh has joined Surrey County Council's 2012 team on a three-month internship. Natalie has been busy marketing Surrey 2012's social networking site, in particular Facebook. Natalie reflects on her experience so far and what she hopes to achieve from this.
Staying Power, Pre-Games training camp event in Guildford
The South East England Development Agency has been working with London 2012 sponsors to bring together a 'Pre Games Training Camp' event to support venues secure and deliver training camps. The event will be on 12 January at the Holiday Inn, Guildford.
Sport Unlimited awarded with the London 2012 Inspire Mark
Run by Active Surrey, the Sport Unlimited programme has been awarded with the London 2012 Inspire Mark. This was awarded due to Sport Unlimited not-for profit aim in engaging children and young people in sports activities outside of school hours.
Creating a volunteering legacy
Surrey's Volunteering Centres are putting on a workshop in March 2011 to help local voluntary groups. It will help voluntary organisations to design Games-inspired volunteering projects and will provide ideas on how to recruit more volunteers.
